TERMS AND CONDITIONS

 

​1. General & Acceptance of Terms

​Scope: These Terms and Conditions apply to all commission agreements, quotes, and services provided by GrimLayersPrinting and GrimLayersPrinting Commissions Studio to the client.

​Agreement: Accepting a quote, submitting a deposit, or authorizing work to begin constitutes full acceptance and binding agreement to these Terms and Conditions.

​2. Quotations & Pricing

​Validity: Quotations remain valid for [e.g., 30 days] from the date of issue.

​Scope of Work: Quotes are based on the specific requirements provided by the Client (e.g., assembly level, color scheme, tier of finish, basing style).

​Modifications: Any changes to the agreed scope of work after the deposit is paid may result in additional charges and timeline adjustments.

​3. Payment Terms, Deposits & Refunds

​All Sales Final & Non-Refundable: All deposits, partial payments, and final sales are 100% non-refundable. Due to the bespoke, custom nature of scale model painting, no returns or refunds will be accepted or issued under any circumstances once work has commenced or items have been delivered.

Non-Refundable Deposits:  Non-refundable deposits of any amount as agreed by GrimLayerPrinting Commissions Studio [e.g., 50% of the total commission value or the full cost of purchasing the models/materials, whichever is higher)] is required before any work or material procurement commences.

​Final Payment: The remaining balance, including any applicable shipping fees, taxes, or additional client-approved charges, is due upon completion of the project and prior to dispatch.

​4. Client-Provided Models & Materials

​Shipping to Studio: The Client is responsible for safely packaging and shipping any models, kits, or parts provided for the project. The Studio is not responsible for loss or damage incurred during transit to the Studio.

​Condition of Kits: Client-provided kits must be complete and free of significant defects unless pre-assembly or restorative work has been agreed upon. Additional costs may apply if unexpected assembly or cleaning is required.

​5. Timelines & Work in Progress (WIP)

​Turnaround Times: Estimated completion dates are guidelines and non-binding. While every effort is made to meet deadilnes, turnaround times depend on project complexity, studio queue, and communication response times.

​WIP Updates: The Studio will provide progress photos/updates at key stages of assembly and painting.

​Client Approval: The Client will be asked to review final photographs before dispatch. Minor adjustments aligned with the original specification will be accommodated; major revisions or changes outside the original brief will incur extra costs.

​6. Shipping & Delivery

​Carriers & Tracking: Finished models are shipped via tracked and insured courier services.  Shipping costs are included in quotes and website listed prices when shipping to the UK only. Shipping costs when sending to outside the UK are paid by the Client and will be agreed upon via quote (written communication). If you purchase an item on our website and require shipping outside the UK we will contact you directly to quote additional shipping costs.

​Packaging: Models are packed with extreme care using high-grade protective materials to minimize movement.

​Transit Damage or Loss: The Studio is not liable for damage, loss, or delays caused by third-party shipping carriers or customs. In the event of transit damage:

​The Client must notify the Studio within [e.g., 48 hours] of receipt with detailed photographs of the damaged shipping box and affected models.

​7. Intellectual Property & Promotional Rights

​Photography & Media: The Studio retains the right to photograph, record, and display all commissioned works in portfolios, social media, promotional materials, and websites unless explicitly agreed otherwise in writing prior to project commencement.

​Copyright: Ownership of the physical model belongs to the Client upon full payment, but artistic copyright of the custom paint scheme and studio imagery remains with the Studio and original Sculptor.

​8. Limitation of Liability

​To the fullest extent permitted by law, the Studio's total liability for any claims arising from the commission shall not exceed the total amount paid by the Client for the specific service rendered.

9. Warnings

Our works are intended for display purposes only  - they are not to be used as toys and are to be kept away from children and animals. Figures may include small parts that can present as a choking hazard.

Pieces may be fragile and therefore are to be handled with care. The studio is not liable for any damage that occurs after delivery.

Due to the nature of the various materials used to paint the model it must be kept dry, away from moisture and directly sunlight and displayed on a flat stable surface.

Do not use water, liquid or any cleaning chemicals on the models.

It is advised to gently dust figures with a clean dry brush or microfiber cloth once a month to avoid dust build up.
